#ThinkLocalFirst / COVID-19 Campaign

Working in partnership with Nelson Kootenay Lake Tourism, Nelson & District Chamber of Commerce, and the Nelson & Area Economic Development Partnership, we came up with a campaign to support local businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. The campaign started with the heart-shaped #thinklocalfirst logo and the large ‘Open for Business’ signs that were given to 200+ businesses through the Nelson & Kootenay Lake region to indicate that they were in fact open during the uncertain early days of the pandemic. The signs feature a blank line at the bottom where businesses could add their own information like store hours, policies, or website for online shopping. Later on businesses were provided with the “We follow recommended COVID-19 protocols” stickers and then posters to first encourage wearing a mask, and then to get vaccinated. Hundreds of these posters were distributed across the region and can still be seen in most business windows around downtown Nelson.
